This month our featured database is LearningExpress Library, a resource featuring timed, online practice tests you can take at your own pace and which gives you instant scoring and feedback. Using Learning Express Library, you can take online practice exams for many academic, civil service, college prep, and general education skills. Learning Express Library is available for use in the library, or for Patchogue-Medford cardholders, from home with their barcode and PIN numbers.

It's easy! Just logon from home for Pat-Med residents OR from inside the library.

 

If you're at home, you will first need to enter your Patchogue-Medford Library barcode or username and your PIN

Once you have logged on, you will need to register with Learning Express Library by clicking on the Register link under "New Users"
Why? So that Learning Express Library can keep track of the individual tests you are taking and their results. Please write down your username and password for Learning Express Library. Tests are normally active for one year from the date you sign on to take them. You can take them at your own pace and go back over tougher questions. Once you have registered at the site, you can then logon through the "Returning User" link. If you forget your password for Learning Express Library, you can retrieve it by entering the email address you registered with.

Once you have logged in, get started by either searching for the name of a specific test you want, or by clicking on one of the learning centers on the left side of the page to start exploring.

LearningExpressLibrary offers online, interactive tutorials for Microsoft Office applications, including Access, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word, the Microsoft Windows and Mac operating systems, and for Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Flash, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Publisher, Microsoft SharePoint Designer, and Microsoft Visio.

 

These interactive courses take you from learning the fundamentals through more advanced features and techniques for multiple versions of the Microsoft Office suite. Choose the Computer Skills Learning Center to get started.

 

If you do not already have it on your computer, you will be required to download Adobe Flash to use the computer tutorials.

Dozens of practice exams are available for exams including ACT,AP,ASVAB, CLEP, GED, GMAT, GRE, LSAT, MCAT, SAT and TOEFL. Search for the name of the test in the search box on the welcome screen.

Looking for a civil service job and need practice? Trying to get into some professions that require a license? These test books are always in demand. Learning Express Library offers dozens of skills improvement exercises for math, grammar, reading comprehension, and writing for students in elementary school to college and beyond. These tests can help students get ahead in class and prepare for college entrance exams. They provide handy review classes for adult learners going back to school after an absence and for adult literacy students and teachers who need to get their skills up to speed. New Citizens

 

New citizens and new arrivals to the United States can use Learning Express Library to help them practice their English skills, review for the citizenship test, and learn basic math and grammar. Choose the U.S. Citizenship and Recursos para Hispanohablantes Learning Centers to get started.
