Reference Librarians:

June Cerveny

Began her professional career as a Law Librarian at a large New York City law firm. Switched to public librarianship at the Patchogue-Medford Library in 1979. She is in charge of Central Library services, maintains the Law collection, and is Head of the Reference Department.

 

Rona Dressler

Came to Patchogue-Medford Library in 2000 as Head of Computer Services. During her first year here, she upgraded the entire computer system Previously she had worked as a Reference Librarian and Head of Technical Services for over 9 years. In 2002, she became Head of Reference/Adult and Computer Services combining the use of reference with modern technology.In 2010 she became Head of Digital and Technology Services

 

Jean Kaleda

Joined the staff at the Patchogue-Medford Library in 1998, working as an adult Reference Librarian with a specialization in business resources.  Since 2002, she has worked as the Coordinator of  Spanish Language Outreach, partnering with local agencies to plan and administer both Library and community programs and services for Spanish-speaking members of the community.  ¡Bienvenidos!

 

Philip J. Luppy
Started out working at the Queens Borough Public Library and joined the staff of the Patchogue-Medford Library in March of 2000. Responsible for the Homebound program which sends Library materials to patrons who cannot get to the Library due to illness or physical disability. In addition, also maintains the Career Collection and works closely with Career Counselor Arline Fassman.

 

Gary Lutz

Gary joined the staff of the Patchogue-Medford Library in 2004.  He works with the Library's adult biography collection, periodical collection, and classical and popular printed music collections.  In addition, he conceives, designs and presents technology programs for young adults and children, collaborates on local history material digitization initiatives, and works on audiovisual and Web-based promotion for the Reference Department.  He is a passionate believer in self-education and reading and looks forward to serving the Patchogue community as part of one of the best public libraries in Suffolk County.

 

Rose Marut

A Reference Librarian and has been on the staff  in the Reference and Adult Services Department for over 10 years.  As the Library's Adult Programmer, she coordinates a variety of programs for Library patrons and the community. She is a member of the Public Relations Committee and works with the group on events and activities. In 2011, she became the Librarian in Charge of the Neighborhood Center.

 

Toni Raptis

Began working at the Patchogue-Medford Library in 1995. She serves as a Reference Librarian and specializes in genealogy research.  Toni is eager to help anyone with their family history.  For an appointment call 654-4700 ext. 231.

 

Bruce Silverstein

Bruce Silverstein has worked at PML since 1999. In addition to managing the Library's subscriptions to online databases, he loves helping patrons connect with a good read. He is excited about the place of reading in the future, whether it is in print, online, or on a Smartphone. Don't forget to ask him about the Library's book discussions, which he leads 5 times a year.
For his own personal reading interests he likes biographies, literary and historical fiction, and prefers his detectives medium to hard-boiled. In his spare time he likes going to the gym, feeding stray cats, traveling, listening to world music, visiting museums, and urban exploration.

 

Deborah Wiesehan

Deborah has been a resident of the District since birth, and has worked at the Library since 1992, working in the Technical Services Department and the Children's Department.  In 1999, she became a librarian and has worked in the Reference Department ever since.  She is in charge of Inter-library loan and wants you to know that "if we don't have that, we can probably get it for you from another library".
